New Partners of SECI Center

seci centerBUCHAREST, June 2nd - The Joint Cooperation Committee, the highest decision body of SECI Center, granted the observer status to the Central Asian Regional Information and Coordination Centre for combating illicit trafficking of narcotic drugs, psychotropic substances and their precursors (CARICC) and United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC), during its 33rd meeting, held in Bucharest. The two organizations joined to the SECI Center observers: Austria, Azerbaijan, Belgium, Canada, Czech Republic, EUBAM, France, Georgia, Germany, Israel, Italy, Japan, The Netherlands, Portugal, Spain, Slovakia, Ukraine, UNDP Romania, the United Kingdom, UNMIK, and the United States of America.
SECI Center and Europol have signed a Letter of Intent, as base of future cooperation after long term negotiation process.

Working meeting on the co-operation of law enforcement agencies

участники встречиOn May 17-19, 2010 working meeting on international co-operation titled “Organized crime and exchange of information” been held in Ankara (Turkey). The meeting was organized by Turkish International Academy against Drugs and Organized Crime (TADOC), Virginia Tech’s Center for Technology, Security, and Policy (CTSP)  and US Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE). Delegates from Central Asian countries, South East Europe, CARICC and UNODC took part in the meeting. CARICC delegation was headed by Mr. Mukhtarbek Madybaev Deputy Director of the Centre.

Working meeting of CARICC with the executives of the competent authorities of Tajikistan

участники встречиOn April 20, 2010 working meeting of the CARICC delegation and competent authorities of the Republic of Tajikistan (DCA, MIA, SCNS, CS, and HDBSF) was held at the Drug Control Agency under the President of Tajikistan.
During the meeting the Director of CARICC and executives of law enforcements  of Tajikistan exchanged information about their activities, main goals and priorities, discussed issues of joint interactions and potential of co-operation between CARICC and competent authorities of Tajikistan in the field of countering illegal drug trafficking.  Executives of Drug Control Agency, State Committee of National Security, and Customs Service declared that they are ready for active co-operation with CARICC and competent authorities of member-states to suppress drug flow from Afghanistan.

Meeting with Pakistan delegation

участники встречиOn April 02, 2010 management of CARICC and UNODC project on establishment of CARICC met with the Pakistan delegation to the Debriefing meeting on “TARCET-II” operation.
Pakistan was represented by Mr. Zaigham Khan, Joint Director for international co-operation, Headquarters Anti Narcotic Force, Mr. Habib Warriach, Pakistan Customs Focal Point, and Tariq Mahmud Training Coordinator UNODC Pakistan.
During the meeting CARICC’s representatives underlined role of Pakistan in the field of combating drug crime and noted interest of CARICC and its member-states in developing close co-operation with competent authorities of Pakistan in countering transnational drug threat. Gratitude was expressed to Pakistan delegates for their active participation in debriefing on “TARCET-II” and practical suggestions for the improvement of operation.

Meeting with delegation of the Islamic Republic of Iran

участники встречиOn April 01, 2010 management of CARICC and UNODC project on establishment of CARICC met with the Islamic Republic of Iran delegation to the Debriefing meeting on operation “TARCET-II”.
Iran was represented by Mr. Mohammad Masoud Zabetian, Director General of Executive Department Drug Control Headquarters, Mr. Hamidreza Rafipour Tehrani Expert from International Relations Office, and Mr. Abbas Tehrani, Expert from Drug Supply Reduction Office.
Mr. Madybaev, Deputy Director of CARICC, noted interest of CARICC and its member-states in developing close co-operation with competent authorities of Iran in countering transnational drug threat.
