 On 27 August 2009 Mr. Miroslav Jenca, Special Representative, Head of United Nations Regional Centre For Preventive Diplomacy For Central Asia visited CARICC. During the meeting, which was attended by Mr. Mark Boyanic, commissioner on human rights of the Council of Europe, T. Murshudlu, Senior coordinator of the UNODC CARICC project, the idea of holding high level meeting of the international and regional organisations on coordination of activities in the filed of countering illicit drug trafficking through Central Asia was discussed.

A working meeting of the intelligence analysts |

 A working meeting of the intelligence analysts of the drug law enforcement agencies of Tajikistan and CARICC was in held Tajik Drug Control Agency (DCA) on 10 – 14 August. The experts considered different aspects of use of the special software products for the purposes of the intelligence analysis. Best practices of the Tajik DCA were thoroughly studied for further utilization in CARICC. It is to be noted that Intelligence analysis unit of the Tajik DCA, which is being regularly trained under the UNODC project TD/RER/F23 by the experts from Sweden and other countries, has extensive practical experience and is considered as a Centre of excellence in this field. |

The first meeting of the national strategic analysts |

 The first meeting of the national strategic analysts (NSA) was held in Ashgabat, Turkmenistan on 6 – 8 August 2009.
The meeting had a purpose to develop work plan of the NSAs (Iran, Russia, and Turkmenistan) under the Paris Pact initiative.
The participants of the meeting drafted concept of the joint analytical study on illicit drug trafficking of heroin from Afghanistan to Europe through the Caspian Sea region.

 On 18 August 2009 a meeting of CARICC staff and liaison officers with Mr. Shaun Gore, director of the Interagency Operations Coordination Centre on Counter Narcotics (IOCC) and Mr. Scott Girling, head of unit at IOCC was held in Almaty, Kazakhstan. The meeting was also attended by the UNODC staff. |

Meeting in Kabul on operation TARCET |

 The representatives of the law enforcement agencies of Afghanistan, countries of Central Asia, Europe as well as the representatives of WCO, Europol, CARICC and other international organisations have met in Kabul, Afghanistan to discuss preparatory activities for the operation TARCET to counter illicit trafficking in precursor chemicals.
It is agreed that CARICC, similarly to the operation arrangement in 2008, will act as a coordination Centre for the operation in the Northern cone.
