Participation in a side event organized by the Republic of Uzbekistan

Delegation of the Central Asian Regional Information and Coordination Centre led by Director participated in a side event “Role of Inter-Agency Mobile Groups in Combating Illicit Drug Trafficking” held on 10 March 2026 in Vienna during the 69th Session of the UN Commission on Narcotic Drugs.
The event was organized by the Republic of Uzbekistan and focused on improving effectiveness of interagency cooperation and introducing modern practices into activities of mobile groups combating drug trafficking.
Welcoming and thematic remarks were delivered by Mr. Zhobir Azimov, Deputy Director of the Drug and Firearms Control Agency under the Administration of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan; Mr. Oliver Stolpe, United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime Regional Representative for Afghanistan, Central Asia, Iran, and Pakistan, Ms. Galina Korchagina, Coordinator of the International Narcotics Control Board, Mr. Nodirbek Abdurazulov, representative of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Republic of Uzbekistan, Mr. Bob van den Berghe, Deputy Head of Container Control Programme of the World Customs Organization and representatives of youth networks and other participants.
During discussion participants exchanged experiences on organization and functioning of interagency mobile groups, discussed issues of coordination between law enforcement agencies, use of modern risk analysis methods, and ways to enhance effectiveness of identifying and combating illegal drug trafficking channels.
Speaking at the event CARICC Director Makhmud Khamidov highlighted the importance of developing mechanisms for interagency cooperation and emphasized the Centre's readiness to further cooperate with participating countries in order to refine activities of mobile teams. He added that CARICC has capacity to coordinate interaction and exchange intelligence and analytical information between competent authorities of states in the region. He expressed the Centre's commitment to assisting member states in developing and streamlining the work of interagency mobile teams aimed at more effectively identifying and intercepting channels for illicit trafficking of drugs.
