The event aims to develop joint measures for implementation of an early warning system (EWS) at the regional level.

It was organized in collaboration with the UNODC Regional Office, financially supported by the U.S. Department of State Bureau of International Narcotics and Law Enforcement Affairs (INL).

The workshop brings together representatives of law enforcement agencies, health ministries, and forensic services from Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, Uzbekistan and international experts.

At the opening ceremony on the first day with welcoming remarks were delivered by Mr. Yusuf Kurbonov, UNODC International Programme Coordinator; Mr. Maksud Khasanzoda, representative of DCA, the Republic of Tajikistan; and Mr. Michael Kopper, Advisor to the INL Regional Office in Dushanbe; and Mr. M. Khamidov, CARICC Director.

After that, in accordance with the seminar program participants delivered presentations on their national experiences with EWS implementation.
