CARICC and the Swiss Foundation for Mine Action (FSD) Discuss Partnership in Capacity Building, Analytics and Border Security

On June 10, 2026, CARICC staff met with Mr. Yoshiyuki Shiomi, Head of the Central Asia Program of the Swiss Foundation for Mine Action (FSD). The parties identified promising areas of cooperation, including joint training for law enforcement officers of CARICC member states, risk analysis courses in border regions, Training of Trainers (ToT), and project management training for international technical assistance.

In the analytical domain, agreements were reached on joint research into threats in Central Asian border areas, expert study funding, the development of analytical products on cross-border crime, and the modernisation of CARICC’s analytical infrastructure. FSD also expressed readiness to partner in organising a regional workshop in Almaty, training courses for CARICC member states, joint grant applications, and promoting CARICC projects to international donors.

The parties reaffirmed their intention to advance cooperation in border security, countering transnational threats, and facilitating donor engagement for current and future CARICC initiatives.
