CARICC leadership and UNODC Regional Office hold a working meeting

CARICC leadership and the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC) Regional Office for Afghanistan, Central Asia, Iran, and Pakistan held a working meeting via videoconference on 25 May 2026. Experts from CARICC and UNODC also took part.
Main topics of the meeting included organizational and substantive matters related to preparation of a joint CARICC side event to be held on 2 June 2026 in Vienna during the 35th session of the Commission on Crime Prevention and Criminal Justice, on the topic: “Artificial Intelligence and Digital Technologies in Combating Illicit Drug Trafficking and Organized Crime”.
During the meeting parties discussed thematic areas of the upcoming event, including application of modern digital solutions, artificial intelligence technologies, cyberspace monitoring and development of early warning mechanisms in countering transnational drug crime.
In addition, participants exchanged views on ways to further strengthen cooperation between CARICC and UNODC, discussed the possibility of jointly organizing next meeting of the Council of National Coordinators of CARICC Member States.
In conclusion, parties highlighted their mutual interest in further developing practical cooperation aimed at strengthening regional and international coordination in tackling modern drug threats and organized crime.
