Meeting with Consul General of the Islamic Republic of Iran in Almaty

CARICC Director Mr. Makhmud Khamidov met with Ms. Sona Ahmadi, Consul General of the Islamic Republic of Iran in Almaty, on 3 November 2026 in Almaty.

Mr. Mehdi Sadeghi, liaison officer of the Islamic Republic of Iran at CARICC, also participated in the meeting.

Parties discussed recent developments in cooperation between CARICC and competent authorities of the Islamic Republic of Iran in the area of combating illicit trafficking of narcotic drugs, psychotropic substances and their precursors.

Particular attention was paid to strengthening information sharing, exchanging intelligence and analytical information on transnational drug trafficking routes and new trends in illicit drug trafficking as well as streamlining mechanisms for coordinating efforts of relevant competent authorities.

They highlighted the importance of maintaining regular working-level contacts and further developing practical cooperation, including via Iran's liaison officer at CARICC.

The meeting reinforced mutual interest in further strengthening coordination and expanding partnership to counter transnational threats related to illicit drug trafficking.

It took place in a constructive and friendly atmosphere.
