CARICC delegation led by Director M. Khamidov participated in a side event on 1 June 2026 in Vienna during the 35th Session of the Commission on Crime Prevention and Criminal Justice titled: “Empowering Women, Children and Youth for Resilient and Inclusive Societies,” organized by the Republic of Uzbekistan in cooperation with the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime.

The event brought together representatives of UN Member States, international organizations, expert community, and civil society to discuss effective approaches to strengthening role of women and youth in social development, crime prevention, and building of a safe and just society.

The event took on special significance by taking place on International Day for Protection of Children, which is observed annually on 1 June. During discussions participants underlined the importance of fostering conditions conducive to holistic development of children and youth, safeguarding their rights, ensuring access to education and social protection, and promoting their participation in public life.

In their statements participants pointed out that investing in development of the younger generation, supporting families, and empowering women and youth are key factors in strengthening social stability, preventing crime, and addressing contemporary challenges and threats.

CARICC’s participation in the event underscores the Centre’s commitment to promoting comprehensive, people-centered approaches to security, and to developing international cooperation on matters related to protection of children and youth, empowerment of women, and strengthening of societal resilience.

CARICC will continue to actively participate in international initiatives aimed at creating a safe environment for future generations and promoting achievement of Sustainable Development Goals in Central Asian region.
