Participation in opening of the 35th Session of the Commission on Crime Prevention and Criminal Justice

35th Session of the Commission on Crime Prevention and Criminal Justice, one of the main intergovernmental bodies of the United Nations system in the field of crime prevention and criminal justice, opened on 1 June 2026 in Vienna, Austria.

CARICC delegation led by the Centre’s Director is taking part in the session.

During the opening ceremony participants were briefed on the Commission’s main areas of focus for current year, and on priority topics for international cooperation in combating transnational organized crime, drug trafficking, corruption, human trafficking, cybercrime, and other contemporary security challenges.

Participation of CARICC delegation in the 35th Session of the Commission provides an additional opportunity to strengthen cooperation with UN Member States, international and regional organizations, and to exchange best practices in countering drug crime and related forms of organized crime.

CARICC side event and a series of bilateral meetings and working consultations with representatives of international organizations and competent authorities of partner states are scheduled to take place on the sidelines of the session with the aim of developing practical cooperation, strengthening information-sharing mechanisms, and coordinating joint efforts to address transnational threats.
