Work continued on 26 March in Dushanbe as part of the regional seminar on effective methods for reporting on synthetic drugs, including NPS, for law enforcement officials from Central Asian countries.
The morning session featured a presentation by Mr. Jared Brown, Scientific Affairs Officer at UNODC Laboratory and Scientific Services, on the topic: Importance of Timely and Accurate Data for Functioning of Regional Early Warning Systems, followed by CARICC analysts on “Standard Procedures for Data Collection and Sharing in Early Warning System for Synthetic Drugs in Central Asia”.
This led to a general discussion and exchange of views on national early warning systems for detecting NPS and possible options for implementation at the regional level.
In the afternoon, CARICC moderated an expert discussion among participants on draft documents regarding implementation of the EWS at the regional level.
Notably, draft papers on gathering information regarding the EWS, coordinating efforts in this field, and other items.
